About Us
The journey of Selecterra Timber Ltd began with a simple but powerful dream: to run our own company while valuing the people who make that company successful. Our story is rooted in a deep appreciation for both the land and the individuals who work tirelessly to ensure that we maintain healthy forests for future generations.
Though our backgrounds were initially in agriculture, we were both raised with a strong connection to the forestry industry. Freddy, originally from Germany, grew up surrounded by the stringent European forestry standards through his family-run forest properties and sawmills. Sabrina, on the other hand, was raised next door to her grandfather's sawmill and later worked in the office. She was fortunate enough to experience all facets of the forestry world, from riding in logging trucks to overseeing the shipping of final products to customers.
Over time, as we formed lasting connections and immersed ourselves in the industry, we recognized a growing need for Selective Timber Harvesting in the Kootenay region. This method aligned perfectly with our core values, and after careful thought, research, and planning, we decided to take a bold leap of faith and change the direction of our lives.
Today, we are proud to be running a successful Selective Timber Harvesting company in the Kootenays, thanks to the support of those who believed in us and the incredible people who have helped us along the way. We are especially grateful to our dedicated employees, who took a chance on us when we started. Their expertise in Selective Logging has been invaluable in building our reputation and ensuring the success of our company.
Our team now works closely with several privately-owned timber companies throughout the Kootenay region. We are deeply thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with landowners, foresters, and forest management professionals. Together, we have had the privilege of showcasing Sustainable Forestry Practices in the Kootenays, and the experience has been incredibly rewarding.
